We recognize it has been a long time since we posted a blog but here but we are have turned over a new leaf; seems we haven’t left much unturned in the past few months. Our little company of four employees has grown to nine office employees and a maintenance team of five; that’s right, we have a sister-maintenance-company now, too, and we are over five years old!
Although growth is a great thing for most companies, us included, this means we have to be a little more grown up. We can no longer say we are a new company, we are no longer a “small” company and we have big kid problems. Due to the fact we grew so quickly we have continued to create processes, most work, some didn’t. We have attended classes about management, HR, pool certifications, defensive driving and leasing just to start. We have a fleet of trucks and a snow removal crew. We have hired and fired and lost some good eggs. And our office team is top notch. We have gone through some changes there, too, filling some gaps when needed and having to right the wrongs of the past with clients.
We are not perfect and we will never claim to be. We may not be the best in the business, but we strive to be. We may not have the best person for each and every job, but we will absolutely try to find the person who is. We have so much integrity it takes awhile to find the right person to fit our expectations and sometimes we aren’t aware of negative factors until it’s too late, but we absolutely put our best foot forward for everyone. We appreciate every learning experience and use it. We are never not growing, changing or improving and we are getting better. It takes a lot of humility to admit the changes needing to be made but we are on our way; we have turned a new corner, put some things in place for more accountability and hired some absolutely fantastic people to help close the gap. And, our clients are changing and are raising the bar so we always have something to strive for.
It will never be easy, but it sure is fun. Here’s to being an adult company, one with the right people at the right time in the right place. Whew, now lets move on!
